The Friendship Baptist Church Membership/Shepherding Ministry seeks to impact one's life by assimilating new members into the body of Christ; connecting them to the Under-Shepherd and the vision God has given to him. This ministry will welcome, unify and make comfortable new members into the body of saints and enable them to grow spiritually.

Children's New Members Class

Mission Statement:   To teach children (Pre-K thru 6th Grade) who have recently joined the church what it means to be a Christian.

Vision Statement:   Children (Pre-K thru 6th Grade) will learn the basics of Christianity and the meaning of Baptism and Communion.

Ministry Description:   Children join the church, are baptized and take communion, but do they really understand key concepts? The Children's New Members Class is offered to children (Pre-K thru 6th Grade) who have recently joined the church. On the third Sunday of each month these new members attend a one-session New Member's Class that is taught during the regular service. Through a variety of techniques, children learn about God, Jesus, sin, Christianity, Heaven, Easter/ Resurrection, pledges to the Christian Flag and Bible, Baptism and Communion. A witness wristband is included in the session.

Meets:

 

Meetings are held as needed. A lesson outline and materials are provided.
Class is taught 9:45 am to 11:00 am on the 4th Sunday of each month in the Christian Education wing.

New Members Classes

Mission Statement:   To teach new members who have recently joined the church the basics of Christian living, Baptist Doctrine and an overview of Friendship Baptist Church.

Vision Statement:   That all who comes through the doors of Friendship Baptist Church will grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Ministry Description:   Everyone who joins Friendship Baptist Church is required to complete membership classes. The Classes currently are: Salvation, Baptism, Church Covenant, Christian Growth, Church Finance, The Church at Work, Commitment and How to Study the Bible

Meets:

 

Every 3rd Sunday of each month ; 9:40 am to 11:00 am ( Accelerated Class)

Mentorship

Mission Statement: To acquaint new members to Friendship Baptist Church and assist them with their walk in Christ by providing mentorship.

Vision Statement: Every new member will be connected with a mentor to help make their transition into the Friendship Baptist Church community an informative as well as pleasant experience.

Ministry Description: Mentors make a connection with new member to encourage and assist them as they assimilate into Friendship Baptist Church. Mentor will reach out to new member and encourage them to complete membership class and gift assessment, attend bible study classes, Christian Education hour and to provide any information regarding church and their spiritual walk as a new member of Friendship Baptist Church.
